TRACK & FIELD
PROGRAM OVERVIEW


Program

The Don Bosco Tech track and field program is composed of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the positive values of teamwork, self-discipline, commitment and the development of technical skills in each of the 16 events that make up Track and Field.


Purpose The track and field program is committed to enhancing the overall education experience of each student-athlete. The major charge of a coach is to take his players to a place they cannot take themselves.

League

The Del Rey League is made up of Bishop Amat (La Puente), Bishop Montgomery (Torrance), Cathedral (Los Angeles), Don Bosco Tech (Rosemead), Junipero Serra (Gardena), and La Salle (Pasadena).


Classification

Division III of the ClF Southern Section


Levels of Competition Varsity, Junior Varsity, Frosh/Soph

Conditioning Season

Begins in December for the distance squad and in early January for all other events with daily workouts after school. Tryouts will be held in late January.

Practice Season

Begins in mid-February.

Competitive Season

Starts the first week of March and extends to June (depending on CIF advancement).  Please see the Track & Field schedule for more details.

Coaching Staff

The head coach is Sal Perez (distance).  He is assisted by Rudy Andrade (sprints and relays), Jeremy Gutierrez (hurdles and pole vault), Robert Lee (throws), Bob Miller (jumps), and Brad Stolz (assistant coach).
