PROGRAM OVERVIEW

Program

The Don Bosco Tech cross country program is composed of individuals who have dedicated themselves to the positive values of teamwork, self-discipline, commitment and sportsmanship. Bosco's distance running program is one of the most respected in the C.I.F. - Southern Section.

During the past 16 seasons, the Varsity has a record of 71-3 and went on to win thirteen League Championships (1994-2000, 2002, 2004-2008). The squad has advanced to C.I.F. for the last 16 years and went on to win the C.I.F - Southern Section in 1997 and 1998, earning a runner-up plaque in 1999 and 2000, and placing third in 2009. The Varsity team also qualified for the C.I.F. - State Finals from 1996-2000 and 2009, winning the State Championship in 1997 and 1998, placing second in 1998, and third in 2009. These achievements mark the first time in school history that any sports program has advanced that far.

The Junior Varsity team is composed of juniors and seniors who do not make the varsity squad. Since 1988, the Junior Varsity has posted a winning record of 116-8 record while earning undefeated league titles from 1994 to 2002 and from 2004 to 2009.

The Frosh-Soph team is made up of freshmen and sophomores who do not make the varsity team. Their record since the Del Rey League's inaugural Frosh-Soph season in 2006 has been 15-1.  The team has won the Frosh-Soph League title from 2006 to 2008.

Purpose The cross country program is committed to enhancing the overall education experience of each student-athlete. The major charge of a coach is to take his players to a place they cannot take themselves.

Don Bosco Tech Logo

The school's current letterhead contains an artistic blend of the letters D and B-the initials of Don Bosco, the name by which St. John Bosco is commonly known. Not only do the letters remind us of our school's patron saint, but the design itself indicates balance-which is what we strive for in our educational mission: a balance between academic and technological studies; a balance between self and others; and a balance between activity and rest.

The educational environment that we have created supports the growth of all-parents, students, faculty and staff-by fostering this balanced school environment. Salesian educators offer their students the time, opportunity, and guidance to know themselves better, to understand the purpose for their lives, and to be prepared to take their places within their families, their church, and our society.

Where the rolling hilss of San Gabriel,
Crown the old Camino Real. Golden
dreams and
hopes abounding,
Guide our way
With kindly light
Bosco Tech,
Today we hail thee,
E'er thy memories.
